Program

The Yellowknife Polar Bear Swim Club offers a group based program to support swimmers from age five (5) to the end of high school. Developmental groups are designed to teach the basics of competitive swimming, fun and fitness. Competitive groups work on swimming technique, speeds, fitness, racing and fun. Check out the sections below on various aspects of the Club's programs. Information on competitions, schedules and special events are outlined in those sections of this manual.

Special Events

YKPBSC also offers a number of special programs and services including:

Rookie Camp

Early in the season the YKPBSC runs a Rookie Camp for returning and new swimmers.

Welcome Event

On the second or third Friday of the season the YKPBSC offers a welcome event (usually a family) swim for all current and new members. Coaches and Board members are on hand to answer questions and provide information about the Club.

Equipment

The YKPBSC maintains a stock of club and practice swimsuits, goggles, caps and t-shirts. Contact the Equipment Manager if you wish to purchase these items
