2006 Frost Bite Swim Camp

Jamie Connors, Canadian Commonwealth Games Coach and the Calgary Patriots was in Yellowknife on January 20 - 22, 2006 to teach NWT swimmers and coaches from Hay River and Yellowknife the latest in competitive swim training techniques at the 2006 Frost Bite Swim Camp. Jamie Connors


Jamie started his coaching career in St. John’s and has gradually moved across the country with stops in Dartmouth, Antigonish, and Saskatoon. He has 22 years of coaching experience to go along with a Master’s degree in the Art & Science of Coaching and a teaching degree in physical education. This is Jamie’s second season as Head Coach for the Calgary Patriots.

Jamie has spent the last 8 years working for a number of teams in Calgary while also travelling with the National Team as an exercise physiologist. With his Team Canada duties, he’s had stops in Sydney, Hong Kong, Manchester, and Japan (two trips). He is also a member of the sport science team that handles the majority of National Team testing, which include video analysis of major competitions.

Last season Jamie was Team Alberta Head Coach for the 18 & under team that went to Manchester for the British SC Nationals. He was also awarded the Youth Coach of the Year 2003-2004 at the recent Swim Alberta Awards Banquet. This season Jamie is a member of the Alberta Coaches Counsel and is the Sprint Freestyle Coach for Swim Alberta.

Earlier this season, one of Jamie's swimmers, Erica Moringstar, set a new Canadian record in the women's 100 meter freestyle at the national swimming team trials for the 2006 Commonwealth Games set for March 2006 in Melbourne, Australia. Both Jamie and Erica will be representing Canada at the Games.

Under Jamie’s guidance, the Calgary Patriots have solidified their position in Calgary and Alberta as one of the premier age group swim clubs.
